Yes, I Use AI. Here’s Why That’s Good News for You.

Right, let’s talk about the thing everyone’s a bit twitchy about.

I use AI in my business. Happily, openly, and every single day.

And if you’re a business owner wondering what that means for the support you get from me… grab a brew, this one’s for you.

There’s a lot of noise about AI right now. Half the internet thinks it’s coming for all our jobs. The other half thinks it’s a magic button that runs your entire business while you sip cocktails on a beach. The reality, like most things, is a lot less dramatic and a lot more sensible.

So let me tell you how I actually use it, what I’d never touch it for, and why working with a VA who genuinely knows her way around this stuff puts you at an advantage.

I was the most sceptical person in the room

I’ll be honest with you. When AI first landed in my world, my reaction was a hard no.

No way is this thing going to sound human. No way am I letting a robot write for me. I was utterly convinced it would spit out flat, soulless waffle that screamed “a computer made this” from a mile off.

And do you know what? Used badly, it absolutely does. We’ve all read those posts. The ones with no soul and seventeen rocket emojis.

But used well, with an actual human brain steering the ship? Completely different story. So I stopped being scared of it and started getting properly good at it. Now it’s one of the most useful tools in my kit, and that’s exactly what I bring to your business.

The bit that matters to you: I’m still the one doing the thinking

Here’s how I think about it.

I’m the seed. AI is the water.

It helps things grow faster. It gives me a head start. But it doesn’t plant anything. The ideas, the judgement, the actual understanding of your business and your tone and what you need on a Tuesday when everything’s gone sideways… that’s all still me.

AI doesn’t know your business. I do. AI can’t read the room on a delicate client email. I can. AI can’t tell when something sounds a bit “off.” I can, every single time.

So when I use it to support your work, you’re not getting robot output with a bow on it. You’re getting my thinking, my judgement, and my care, just delivered faster and sharper because I know exactly how to make the tool work for me, not the other way round.

What that actually means for you

You get more mileage out of everything.

One blog post can become social posts, email content, hooks, the lot. One thing you’ve made can stretch so much further than you’d think. More value, more reach, less starting from a blank page and crying gently into a coffee.

You get a proper second pair of eyes.

I use it to sense-check things, to test tricky emails, to play devil’s advocate before something important goes out the door. When you work for yourself there isn’t always someone to think out loud with. AI gives me that, which means you get more considered, less knee-jerk work.

You get someone who actually keeps up.

AI moves faster than a fully charged Tesla. What’s true this month is old news by the next. Staying genuinely current is part of my job, so it doesn’t have to be part of yours. You get support that’s properly up to date, not someone still doing it the slow way because they couldn’t be bothered to keep learning.

You can hand the whole AI bit over to me entirely.

Some of my clients don’t want to go near it themselves, and that’s completely fine. I’ll set it up, run it, manage it, the lot. Others want to learn it, so I help them get started with a proper steer rather than a panicked Google. Either way, you’ve got someone in your corner who actually knows what she’s doing.

What I’d never do

This bit matters, so I’m saying it plainly with no waffle.

I never put sensitive or personal client data into AI without the proper setup and handling in place first. I’m careful about what goes in and how it’s all configured. Your business is treated with exactly the same care it always has been.

And I never, ever send or publish something AI has touched without checking it with my own two eyes. The human oversight isn’t a nice optional extra. It’s the entire point. AI is the support act. It is never, ever the headliner.

It’s the garlic bread. You’re still the lasagne.

A quick honest word

AI is properly woven into how I work now. Not as a lazy shortcut, not as a replacement for actual thought, but as a genuinely useful part of delivering calm, considered, human-led support.

It’s also worth knowing it’s now baked into a huge amount of everyday software. Canva, email platforms, automation tools… most of us are using it without even realising. So a totally AI-free way of working isn’t really something I can offer anymore, and I’d rather be straight with you about that than pretend otherwise.

If that sits well with you, brilliant. I reckon you’ll really feel the benefit.

Why this is good news, not scary news

It hasn’t replaced me. It’s upgraded me.

I work faster, I offer more, and I can support your business in ways I genuinely couldn’t a couple of years ago. The care, the judgement, the actual human relationship… all still exactly where they’ve always been. AI just means I can do more of the good stuff, to a higher standard, for you.

It’s not me versus the robots. It’s me, with a very good tool and the know-how to use it properly, quietly working smarter on your behalf.

That’s the kind of VA worth having in your corner. One who keeps it human, but isn’t a decade behind.

Want support from someone who works smart and keeps it human?

If you’d like calm, capable support for your business, from someone who knows her way around the clever tools but never loses the human touch, here’s how I work.

Or if your head’s too full to even know where to start, Waffle & Write is a focused session where you talk, I listen, and we turn whatever’s swirling into a proper written summary you can actually do something with and walk away with a clear brain.
